The Lord works...

Yes he does, and in very mysterious ways! So I had to write this now because it was to freaking awesome. Ok, so check it out...tonight some of us went to Rocky LaRue's for "Open Acoustic Jam", and Josh played some tunes and rocked the house once again. Our hearts were moved and we rooted our hearts out. But the best part about it all is when I talked to Josh as he was walking out of Rocky's. Apparently, the midget guy, Clay, part of the group "The HubKats", that puts on the show for "Open Acoustic Night" talked to Josh, pouring out his heart the best way he could find. He told Josh, as his eyes filled with tears, "Man...man...you are all that I want to be...I hear the words you sing and I wan that." When I heard Josh tell me that, I was moved because, I know for a fact the Lord is using Josh and his music. And God is tugging at that guys heart. So I would have to disagree with anyone who says that the Lord can not use some one in a place like a bar. So, keep Clay in your prayers. God is awesome and I love how He works, and I love that guy, Josh, for what he does.

Speaking of Josh...Saturday night he is playing at Sugar Brown's...so don't miss it! Caleb Green, Andy Eppler, Aaron Hale play one Friday night, so check those cool guys out too!

Alas, I return...

So, I return bringing apologies to my viewers (those that are left), and news of a return. Lately my life has been consumed with work and holding on to a social life, and in turn has left little time for my blog. Though little attention has been allotted to my entries, i have failed to alt least keep all of you up-to-date. So much has happened...I turned 24, great stories of hanging with friends, and ups and downs on my goal to buy a motorcycle. This post will be short, but the next is sure to be soon and much longer.

2 Nights in the living room part 2

Well, it is finally here, the second part. Ya, this would of been here a lot sooner but my photoblog is being a punk.

So, ya, Sunday night Emily Harrison had a Bar-b-q/Party/Concert at her house. I t was awesome to have a great selection of musicians such as: Josh, Caleb, Andy, Sean, Kelsey, Megan, Chris and the parties very own Emily Harrison. All donations were to send Caleb to mission trip to England.

Josh, Caleb and Andy do there thing and every one loved as expected, because we all know these guys rock. I heard Andy Eppler (later with Kesley) play and was very impressed. So impressed that i bought his CD right then. So for those of you that have not heard Sean you need to go to Sugar Brown's Friday night to see him play (8ish i think). If you have heard him and do not have his CD yet, get on the ball and go here. And don't forget Josh's CD that you can still buy here.

We had some special guest that evening. The guys managed to talk Megan to play a couple songs, but I'm sure it did not take a whole lot of convincing. She was great as always. For those who stuck around to the very end got a real nice treat. Emily busted out and played us nice song. It was my first time to hear her, and I liked it.

There was a couple pretty sweet jam sessions too that the guys put together. Speaking of jam sessions in the front yard and back porch at various times throughout the evening we had people jamming out. We had Paul and Chris (with a nice crowd) in the front, Chrisanna and Seth on the back porch, and later Guy doing his thing on the back porch.

With the nice variety of people present, there was always something cool going on. Whether it was great music, Chris posing for the camera, Richard and Pearce throwing down some wrestling, Jennifer and Andy pulling off soem matrix moves, see and spell on Emily's refrigerator, tortilla toss games (using one's mouth), or slap the sponge-bob ball around game it was never a dull moment.

Ok here are some of the pics. of that evening, to see the rest got to my pictures.

Fun times for a Monday

So after 5 long weeks of gimping around, using trash bags in the shower, and smelling the stinch of a leg that can't breathe, my cast is finally off (11:30 this mourning). Comparing the two legs, left leg: nice looking calf, non-swollen foot, and a sweet henna tattoo on it (thanks Emily)...right leg: gimpy peg leg, and the closest thing to a tattoo on it is the discolorization of bruising.

Observations while driving down 82nd St.:
--We are getting a Taco Bueno finally! (in between Indian and University)
--I saw a terrible looking wreck. Apparently a lady slammed her late model Ford into the back of dumpster truck. The dumpster truck was, of course, ok, but the other truck was f.u.b.a.r. Amazingly enough, the lady (late 20's - mid 30's) that was driving the truck was physically ok.

Observations at Little Panda
--My roommate's classmate can put down some soda...he bought two to start out with, then got up two more times for more...he's a machine.
--The place went to a slow hush as this huge guy who was roughly 250-300lbs and looked part Hawaiian walked in. The Chinese guy behind the counter was left with a confused face after the guy left. It was kinda funny because, he did not strike me as surprising, but he sure shut the place up.

Happenings at Burger King:
--I ended up throwing my cup at the lady behind the counter. I was tossing it up with the intention of catching it, but ended up missing and in my effort to try to recover it I tossed at her barely missing her. We both laughed and joked about it.
--I saw the scariest "crack attack" i have ever seen. The smelly/greasy guy setting a few tables in front of me stood up, and I almost gagged on my whopper. His shorts were below the half-way-point and he didn't seem to notice or care because when he came back to sit down nothing had changed. SERIOUSLY!!

2 nights in the living room part1

Saturday and Sunday were packed full of music and friends. Saturday was Josh Rosenthal's Cd release party at the Living Room (16t & G) and Sunday, aside from mother's day, was a concert party at Emily Harrison's casa. Due to my photoblog's wonderful uploading limits, i don't have pictures ready for Sunday. So on with Saturday. For those of you that, unfourtunetly missed Josh's CD release party, you really missed out. $5 got you in, but if you were cool at all you paid $10 to buy Josh's Cd (Inspired By Tuesday) and get in free. You also got a nice read "PAID" stamp that smeared off on youe clothes if you weren't careful. The overall turnout was nice, desipte the fact the Living Room like a sauna. The crowd was similar to the Sugar Brown's crowd times ten. Michael Merrel did all video for the concert with his nice expensive camera, and Emily Harrison took the photos of the concert.

Joe Morrow opend and started the show. I love his song "Without a word". Caleb Green came up after Joe and sang us some sweet tunes. Caleb's friend Kyle came up too and played some violin with Caleb Josh takes the stage and rocks it out. He had a lot of people come up and sing and jam with him. Caleb(he playes d some "old school" bass at one time), Kyle, Chris, and Jordan (on drums) join the stage at various times to jam along. Heather (who's vioce is awesome) made her sing debut with one of Josh's songs and the two sounded sweet. Josh's roomate, Justin joins him for a song as well to jam along Josh. Now on song 6, eveybody gets a special treat. Johnathan Baker gets on stage and does a tap dance routine as the guys jam out. That's right folks, Johnathan Baker can tap dance, tap dance good (he has performed in such places as New York). It was really sweet. Overall it was an awesome performance to help Josh get on the road for his touring.

Here are some of the pics. I took. You can go to my photoblog for all of them.

Update brought to you by the maker Constant Daydream

Thursday night was a fun filled evening. I started off by finding out there is a delay in my financial aid for school. Yea, that's real fun seeing how I'm freaking broke. After that I hung out with a friend I had not talked to in a while, Laci Anderson. I was so happy to hear that God is doing some awesome things in her life.

Enter "Friends" with friends. At about 7:30 I got to watch the final episode of "Friends" with some friends of mine. My new fun friend Racheal Rhea invited me to watch it at her friends house. I'm not a huge "Friends" fan(it's not that I dislike the show by any means, just that I haven't really followed it much), but it was sure to be good. And sure nuff it was, and all was a happy ending. The company was pretty fun to. At the house we were at, I was one of maybe by five guys surrounded by 15 some odd girls. So, it was never a dull moment (especially at itense moments of the show). I knew maybe two people there, Sara and Jana. The rest, there names escape me, except for Lauren (no one could forget this girl once you meet her), and couple of guys: Marshall and Oscar (because they both have unique names).

After that it was off the Candice's apt. She had invited me to another "Friends" party, but i could not be at both, so i showed up afterwards and played some Marion Cart (Gamecube style) and Uno(I love that game) with Candice, Josh, and Marla. Before I left, I got a chance to watch one of my favorite cartoons: Ren & Stimpy. I really wish I had cable sometimes because Cartoon network and Spike TV rock.

Other highlights:
My silver cross ring broke again!

Here we have Marcus going solo style. If you haven't heard what this guy can do with his guitar, you seriously need to check it out.

Trent takin' a breather and chillin' with the ladies. I have add that I think Trent is one of the nicest guys I have meet.

They come together and lay down a sweet tunes. They are both pretty good on the guitar and keyboard.

Marcus is is working on recording a CD right now, and it hopefully will be out for the beginning of summer. So for all you Marcus fans, soon you can listen to him wherever you go!

It's good for you, it's good for you man, it's good for you...

Last night I went to go see "Envy", with Jack Black and Ben Stiller, and it wasn't oo bad. There were lots of funny parts and we all laughed a lot but, I probably would never buy or rent the DVD. After the movie, some of us went to Sam's house to chill. There wasn't much to do, so I (and Ben at first) prank called those late night infommercials. After that I called a guy Sam knew and prank called him, and one: he believed my character (Timothy Tims) and two: the call went on for almost 12 min!

Rocky La Rues was in for a surprise.

Last night Rocky LaRues received a special treat, from our very own Josh Rosenthal. That's right Josh rocked the house last night. The boys and I meet again last night at Cricket's, and even though Plain Brown Wrapper was doing there thing (and doing it well), it was standing room only. So we ventured over to the neighboring "pub" and relaxed at a table. We soon find out that Wednesday nights are "open Acoustic Jam" at Rocky LaRues. Josh walked in expecting entertainment, and ended up being a part of it. So Josh gets up there, after a couple of other bands finished playing, to do his thing. After his first two songs the place gets a little quiet compared to the usual uproar. Everyone there got a real taste of some talent, and was actually listening. Don't get me wrong some of the guys before and after were not bad, well, actually they weren't all that good. Anyway, it was sweet to hear a little bit of unexpected jams by Josh last night. He even got his CD promoted as well.

Last Saturday was awesome. Joe Morrow opens up for Megan, and once again get to here Joe beyond the usual worship setting and it is "gude". Also, Megan rocks the house again, too. Nora Jones step aside, because this girl rocks with her jellies on!

* Two and a half more stinking weeks in this God-forsaken cast! AHH!

* Observations while driving:
-I was cruising along Indiana on the way to school, and a big rottweiler carelessly trots out of an alley and in front of my truck. Luckily I was paying attention and swerved fast enough (with no cars around) and barely missed the stupid dog's massive head, which would of left a nice dent in my grill, despite the grill guard.
-I passed this lady who was wearing plastic gloves while driving as if the steering wheel was toxic. They weren't surgical ones, but just cheap clear plastic ones. How strange.

* Observations while nodding off:
I was nodding off in my computer chair, entering a state of semi-rem sleep, and I began to dream about trying to catch an iron that I had knocked of an ironing board, and I woke up the next second to me jolting my hand out to attempt to catch the iron as if it was really there...funny.

* Observations in class:
-I saw my fellow classmates Dr. Pepper on the table and all I could think about all during class was, "I want a Dp, I need a Dp, I must get a DP."..."His DP looks real nice, fresh and cold, with the condensation still on it, mmm Dp." I realized I have a DR. Pepper addiction!
-Apparently my professor wears a size 11 shoe, for his right shoe had the little "11" sticker on the front it that he must of overlooked.

* Dating terminology by Sam Catolona:
(In reference to two people wanting to hook up)
"You like the booty, I like the booty."

* The lost and found at Sugar Brown's can be found on Marcus's apron. Ask Ms. Highsmith.

The Plain Brown Wrapper Story

So yes, Crickets can be a very fun place! Some guys and I met up a Crickets Wednesday night just to kick back, relax, have a drink or two, and watch some great live music. Plain Brown Wrapper was playing and the rocked the house. It was my first time to see them perform and was quite entertained. I never was much of a hang out in a bar (bar/grill) type place kinda of guy, but then again I've always been under the impression that that kinda of place never has anything good going on. I'd say for the hanging out time, the music, and the random people you meet that you actually know having the same kinda fun is well worth the adventure.

Speaking of people you randomly meet that you know, I ran across our very own Jill Hoes hanging out with her cousin Ty (the greatest so I hear), and some of her other pep's. Well, for those of you who know or don't know Jill let me tell you some of the little dark secrets that I learned about her...HA....you thought I'd actually give you something juicy...HA HA! Ya, Jill was feeling pretty good though, and I did learn a lot about her in just a short amount of time. I think she was feeling a little better that I was. Although, one thing I will openly share is that the on going debate on whether Jill Hoes has a derrière has come to an conclusion. It is affirmed that Jill Hoes does infact have a backside despite some popular beliefs.

I also found out that night that my long time best friend, Amanda, is now out of the Army (4 years) for good. She just recently left Iraq, now stationed in Colorado, heading to Snyder (my hometown) now, and soon to be in Lubbock for fall semester.

Here is the only picture I have right now of my nephew, Crason, but more are sure to come.

Here is one of the pictures on my b-e-a-utiful niece during Easter.

Back by popular(?) demand...

So, yet another break from endless homework occurs and here I am. Well, it has been a while since I've updated and it is greatly needed. As you can read on the tagboard I was often reminded of this in the kindest of ways. Further more, an update has arrived.

Island Party was not to bad, and probably would of been more exciting for me had I not showed up later and only stayed past midway through Shaun Groves. But I toped Saturday evening off with a good dose of the someday famous, Josh Rosenthal followed by Caleb Green. (May 8th, Josh Rosenthal's CD release party at "The Living Room" 8:00pm if you don't already know.)

I forget how much it sucks to have a cast. It doesn't matter where it is it always ends up itching in places even the close hanger can't reach and smells worse and worse as the days go on. (3 more weeks, yea!)

I found out (officially) that I am 12.42% Geek thanks to innergeek.us. Some may disagree, but find out how much of a geek you are here.

That's it for now!

Row, row , row your boat...

So cigar night continues, but this time with a little twist. The boys and I had cigar night on Matt's boat out at Buffalo Spring Lake close to 10pm. It was pretty sweet just cruisn' around a bit and then chillin', smoking a cigar in a boat in the middle of a (very small ) lake that was lit soley by the stars. We made a few prank calls while we were out there too (fun times). We got some people pretty good too. The funniest time was when we all see Ben Catalano lung forward yelling "Not on me!, NOT ON ME!" Apparently Michael got sick due to the swaying of the boat, and lost it over the side just missing Ben. The funny thing about Ben, is that we learned to listen to him last night. All night in the boat he was telling Matt to check to see if the motor would turn over (apparently the with all the on-board lights and custom stereo system, the battery could only take so much alone). And each time he tried it did turn over, and we told him to stop freaking out. Well, the fun ended shortly after about the tenth time he said it, because now the motor would not turn over. There we are, stuck in the middle of the lake, seven guys, all by ourselves in the boat with no power. We soon found out that skis make good for makeshift paddles in the time of need. After about 10min of paddling we managed to make it into the nearest dock to tie up the boat and leave it over night...and then we notice that the storm was proceeding ever closer to the lake. That posed a problem, because Matt really didn't want his boat to sink. On the trek back across the lake on land, my gimp leg and I can't keep up. So I got to ride piggy back most of the way back to the trucks via Ben Cat. and Kyle ( the man , is a beast ) Well, with the great minds of Matt, Daniel, and Ben Cat., they manage the convert Daniel's truck battery into a temporary power source (the boat and truck batteries are totally different by the way), and we eventually "get out of dodge" close to 1am. It definitely made for an eventful night. So what did we learn from that night:

-- Smoking cigars in boat at a lake at night rocks
-- It's ok to listen to Ben, he knows what he is talking about
-- Micheal gets sea sick
-- Skis make good paddles when you have no real paddles
-- Kyle can carry a 180lb guy on his back effortlessly for quite a while

Happy easter to all my peps!

Here are some cool things that I found and some crazy news out there

Our very own Homestarrunner has made it in an article in the March 29th edition of Newsweek. (Ya it's kinda funny to me because I found this while reading this edition chillin' in room 10 waiting for the orthopedic surgeon to me how bad I jacked up my foot on Monday)

What? Superman has Sienfeld as his sidekick! That right kids, Superman and Jerry Sienfeld are the new dynamic duo! This is a Today Show interview, and check out the official site here. Check it out, its pretty funny.

What will they think of next! Tattoos and Piercings step aside, the Neverthlands are down with a new wave...eyeball jewelry.

William Hung, the well know American Idol reject, is at it again. This time he is back in California performing with the Warrior Girls cheerleaders during halftime of the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors game. First he gets rejected, then his sound bits or all over the Internet, then he performs for Berkeley, lands a record deal, and now doing half time shows...this boy's on a freaking roll.

New vodka-flavored ice cream has hit the shelves in Australia. That's a good way to "start em' young", with kids growing up loving the taste of vodka. Don't get me wrong, I can do a little liquor/mix-drink, but I don't think that vodka flavored icecream would tickle my fancy. I wonder if it comes in Parrot Bay flavour!..LOL

Speaking of tickle my fancy...I pulled up yesterday to school and say something that completely dropped my jaw. Apparently the lady that parked in front of me had her "secret stash" stowed away in the trunk of her car. The is not ordinary secret stash, but a freaking mother load (couple crates full) of Dr. Pepper! For me it , was like Sir Robin seeing the image of the Holy Grail in "Search for the Holy Grail". Yes, I like Dr. Pepper that much, now back off! Oh, sorry bout that. So as I got out of my truck, I say to her "So, you like Dr. Pepper, eh?", while she locks her trunk. She is slightly startled and replies "Uh, uh, ya." I guess this lady has an addiction far greater than mine.

From a broken foot to Bar-B-Q

Some would say that I had an eventful past few days, and I would, in fact have to agree with them. Well, here is the story...Ounce upon a time...wait wrong one. Ok, I guess it all starts early Friday morning around 12:30a.m., racing to my friends truck (running from the scene of a prank gone wrong). But the thing is, I am running full speed in sandals. These two reallt do not go hand in hand. Funny, these sandals are green and look like they are made of fine cut welcome mat stuff (no wonder I feel welcome everywhere I go). So, I'm hauling some freakin booty, and I encounter an elevation change in the terrain. I go from sidewalk to parking lot, and was not prepared for it. Well, in the time it takes a hummingbird to flap it's wings 3.5 times the following happened: I caught the ground with the edge of my sandal and my pinky toe at about 8-10mph, my foot rolls underneath me with 180lbs of pressure above it, my upper 5th metatarsus breaks and shifts a few millimeters, I tuck-and-roll in mid fall, my nerves shoot signals to my brain, lightning bolts of pain rip through my body, I attempt to stand up, and fall back to the ground. My friends (Kyle, Sam , and Ben) still recall the fast breathing and pain stricken face while I was hold in the pain anddoing everything in my power not to yell out in agony. The next "scene" reminds me of soldiers going back for a downed soldier and carrying him back to safety in "Saving Private Ryan". Back at Kyle's truck we are all relieved to find out I can put pressure on my foot. So, my ankle is not broken, as feared, but the ever increasing knot on the side of my foot was not looking good. I could walk (somewhat) so I didn't go to the hospital, but getting it checked out later that day was the plan. Then Kyle takes me back to my truck conviently parked at a 24hr Eckard's where I left it. So, know I am limping my way through Eckard's to my some med's. On my way out, I have a little conversation with a guy that is kinda funny:

mystery man: "Having a f@#$ed up day, huh?"
mr: "You could say that."
mystery man: "Man that is f#$@ed up." (as he sees the reason I was limping)
me: "Tellin me" (with a half smile)
Then he proceeds to tell me about how his doctor could "fix me right up" (this guy has a little more than a hint of redneck in him)
mystery man: "Man that's f#$@ed up, good luck to ya man."
I think I heard half of his vocabulary in 3 min.

Now, after having iced my foot all night, and when I woke up, I proceed to the only doctor I know in town...Dr. Funk M.D. He is a really cool guy, and it goofy at times, but knows his stuff. He determined that I broke my upper 5th metetarsus, and the X-rays confirmed it. It was almost jacked up enough to have to have a screw put in, for sure. But, the orthopedic surgeon he called (who I am going to go see tomorrow) figured just a air-cast would work, and I hope he does not change his mind, or I'm "screwed"...LOL But, I can't wait for the cast because I hate crutches.

So now to the fun stuff. We had a Bar-b-q for my roomate, Johnathan on Saturday for his B-day, and I'd say it was pretty good. So early in the day my roommate, his fiance, and the "gimp" (me) went to United to by the meat at stuff. Well, for all of you who have always wanted to ride on automatic carts, I took for the pleasure for you. It was pretty fun. I almost took out a few fellow customers, and got a lot of strange looks. 6:00p.m. was kick off for the bar-b-q and it all started with watching some Final Four on CBS. Well, Oklahoma almost pulled it off. Bring on the food, baby! We cooked some "delish" brisket and some (little burned) chicken. A few of us(4 of 15) had a little more than the food. Little to everyone's knowledge, we had a little secret bootlegging going on out of my room..."Target"...a little Parrot Bay goes a long way. I think all the red cups you see in the pictures that are "in hand" are "special cups". Midway through, the Halo Tourney begins. For all you Halo fans out there, we had 6 people free-for-all...a.k.a a bloodbath. Me and some of the "boys" toke part in such fine pleasantries with some fine cigars. Hmm, very nice. As it died down some of us played some more Halo. It wasn't the most happening place, but I'd say we all had fun. Of, course knowing me, an hour into the night the Advil really kicks in and I get feed up with my crutches, so I just sort of hop/limp around for the night. Not the doctors exact orders but, oh well. I'll probably hear it tomorrow.

Sunday service was good this mourning. I was exhausted, but didn't doze for a sec. One of the verses really stuck out to me: Romans 4:17b:"...he brings things that do not exist into existence." He gave Sarah a child from a barren womb, and gives us life where there ounce was none! WOW! How awesome is that...My God rocks, and he is a big freaking God! I also watched Matchstick Men tonight, and that movie I think is pretty sweet. Nicholas Cage, Sam Rockwell, and Alison Lohman did a fantastic job especially Nicholas and Alison. It is definitely one of those movies that makes you really think about what is going on, and you can easily get lost in it. I found myself really getting into it, and feeling the emotions of the characters. I'm no master movie critic, but I definitely recommend renting it.
